About AFA → About Our Organization affordable for all. Before we became an official non-profit, we began offering classes in piano, guitar, dance, and art as Arts For All on February 1, 2006. We offered these classes in donated spaces at two local churches. In May 2006, we had our first fundraiser for the legal expenses involved in becoming a 501(c)(3). On July 19, 2006 Arts For All was granted our non-profit status and we have been growing ever since. Currently we are in two public schools as an after school program for their respective students, the Open Door Mission on Saturdays, the Home School Learning Center in Benson on Wednesdays, and our open to the general public classes held at five locations, five days a week. In 2009, we also collaborated with the Camp Fire program for students when school was not in session, worked with the Youth Empowerment Program for African-American students in North Omaha, and provided art classes for the children of Latinas in Action through Interfaith Health in South Omaha. Future plans include working with students at South High School, expanding a middle of the day program in Papillion, and piloting an adult evening program in art and music. Arts For All, Inc. is a non-sectarian not-for-profit organization without any religious affiliation. Our programs are open to all people. Arts For All is made possible in part through the generosity of various church congregations, community organizations, and schools who donate the use of their facilities. As time goes on, we expect to expand our programs for our younger and older students and provide more opportunities for those with special needs. This will ma |
